Stiff lock, broken key, jammed bolt or faulty mechanism — we diagnose the problem on arrival and repair it on the spot. Often cheaper and faster than full replacement. Available 24/7.
A lock that sticks, requires force, or makes grinding noises is not necessarily dead. In many cases wear, dirt or a slightly bent key have caused the cylinder to stiffen — and a professional clean, lubrication or minor internal repair restores it fully. We assess on arrival and tell you honestly which option makes sense.
If the cylinder is too worn to be worth repairing, we carry stock of Class A and Class B cylinders and can do a replacement on the same visit — price confirmed before we start.
A broken key fragment left in the cylinder makes the lock unusable. Attempting to pull it out with pliers usually pushes it deeper. Our specialists use purpose-built extraction tools to remove the fragment cleanly, without damaging the cylinder — in the majority of cases the lock can continue to be used afterwards.
If the key snapped because it was already worn or bent, we'll advise whether a cylinder change is the better option.
A bolt that won't retract, a latch that sticks in the extended position, or a deadbolt that won't fully engage — all of these are repairable in most cases. The fault is usually in the bolt mechanism itself or in a misalignment between bolt and strike plate. We diagnose on the spot and adjust or repair without replacing the whole lock unless necessary.
If someone attempted to pick, bump or drill your lock, the cylinder may appear intact but be internally compromised. We check for damage to pins, springs and the housing. If the cylinder can be safely repaired we do so; if it has been structurally weakened we recommend a cylinder replacement — your security depends on it.
Intermittent faults — where the key sometimes turns and sometimes doesn't — are often caused by worn pins inside the cylinder reacting to temperature or humidity changes. This is repairable. We strip, inspect, replace worn pins and reassemble. If the cylinder is too old for economic repair, we advise on a modern equivalent.
We arrive, assess the fault and explain what we found — no work starts until you approve the price. Most repairs take 20–40 minutes. All repaired locks are tested with all available keys before we leave.
